Wall Street closes at a record for the first time since end of January
Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Industrial Engineering, Industrial Transportation and Automobiles & Parts sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.26%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Spirax-Sarco Engineering PLC (LON:SPX), which rose 12.95% or 785.00 points to trade at 6,845.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Ashtead Group PLC (LON:AHT) added 3.96% or 198.00 points to end at 5,194.00 and International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) was up 3.05% or 11.40 points to 385.30 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were London Stock Exchange Group PLC (LON:LSEG), which fell 5.27% or 522.00 points to trade at 9,380.00 at the close. Sage Group PLC (LON:SGE) declined 4.74% or 54.50 points to end at 1,096.50 and National Grid PLC (LON:NG) was down 2.13% or 22.50 points to 1,034.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 950 to 752 and 615 ended unchanged.
Shares in International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) rose to 5-year highs; up 3.05% or 11.40 to 385.30.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.16% or 5.40 to $3,399.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.09% or 0.70 to hit $63.26 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.74% or 0.49 to trade at $66.14 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.54% to 1.35, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.05% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.45% at 97.92.
